In an instant, your life could change forever . . .
Every month, a home in our area is ravaged by fire. In the shock and confusion that follows, the Red Cross is there, helping to rebuild lives. The Red Cross provides disaster relief, training, and education to residents throughout Goodhue County on a daily basis.
In calendar year 2009 volunteers responded to 8 incidents and assisted 10 families in our area. These included single family disasters (mainly house fires) and other local events, such as flooding.
The Red Cross is not a government agency and depends on the generosity of local businesses and individuals, as well as support from the United Way, to provide vital assistance to local disaster victims. |
